Fishing 4 cast from Boca Grande, Florida....By Capt. Ron Kowalyk....There was a fair bite in Bull and Turtle bays by midday. Sightfishers took shots at snook, trout, sheepies, black drum and reds. The Burnt Store Bars held good mixed bag bites with special attention to the reds, Blackdrum and sheepies. The open bay held scads of upper slot trout wind permitting. Big dead Creek and Jug creek are home to big release snook, upper slot reds and big snapper and sheepies. The Peace and Myakka are coming into their own as the water temps stabilize a bit. Snook, reds, snapper, jacks, sheepies, trout, the odd pod of baby tarpon and black bass were all reported actively feeding on the midday warm-up.... PORT CANAVERAL....By Capt. Jimmy Ross.... OFFSHORE-Bottom fishing is best in the 120 to 260-foot depths. Snapper, grouper, amberjack, cobia, and porgies are the most common catches this week. Live pinfish, grunts, redeyes, and hardtails are working for the larger fish. Cut squid or sardines have been working when live baits are not available. King mackerel should continue to be good on the 90- foot reefs such as 8A, pelican Flats, and Chris Benson. Look for cobia or tripletail free swimming in the 40 to 70-foot depths if weeds or floating debris are present.... INSHORE-Trout, black drum, and redfish are hitting live shrimp near bridges and other deep water structure in the Indian and Banana Rivers. Oversized redfish are taking cut mullet, ladyfish, and crab in these same areas. With the warming trend expected through the weekend, look for slot sized trout and reds to seek out shallow areas throughout the rivers and lagoon. Small spoons, jigs, and soft jerk baits will work best for those using artificial lures. Live shrimp will get the nod for the live bait crowd.... SEBASTIAN INLET....By Capt. Jimmy Ross.... OFFSHORE - Snapper and grouper catches remain solid in the 60 to 140 foot depths. See Ponce and Canaveral reports for best baits. A few sailfish and dolphin are working the 120 to 240 foot depths for trollers using small or medium sized ballyhoo or live baits under kites.... INSHORE - Black drum and Margate are hitting cut clam around the north jetty. A few snook are showing up mainly on the outgoing tides inside the inlet. Now that the season is open expect the snook bite to slow considerably....Catch a memory! ......Courtesy of www.floridasportsman.com
